From a small family business storefront on State Street in Jackson, Mississippi in 1965, Mary Grace and two of her children, Allison Simmons and Joel Brown, continue to strive to bring you the finest selection of art and the very best in framing solutions of all kinds.

Mary Grace Brown

In 1963, Mary Grace and James Brown purchased the equipment to open a frame business out of their home. In 1965, they opened a store on State Street in Jackson. Brown’s Fine Art has grown to become one of the premiere fine art galleries in the Southeast and a leader in the framing industry nationally. Mary Grace’s commitment to providing the very best quality and the highest level of customer service continues to be the driving force behind Brown’s ongoing success.

Joel Brown

Joel grew up with his sister Allison, learning much of the gallery and framing business by ‘osmosis’ – by watching his mother and father at work in the gallery. Joel joined the family business at the age of 25 after earning his business degree from Millsaps College in 1988. He learned he had a natural sense for designing frame solutions and consulting with corporate clients. He placed art for Community Bank locations from Memphis to Florida. Joel also appraises art for individuals, businesses and estates. As a voracious reader, he especially enjoys the research involved with each appraisal. Like his entire family, Joel is an animal lover. His two dogs, Ellie and Jethro, accompany him to work each day and occasionally greet customers at the gallery.

Allison Brown Simmons

As a young girl, Allison recalls growing up around the gallery and frame shop. When she and her brother, Joel, weren’t getting treats at Campbell’s Bakery they were watching the framer in the shop. Allison studied business at Mississippi State University before starting work at the family’s gallery in 1984. She began in the shop putting pictures into frames. She watched her mother involved in all aspects of the business and soon learned the art of framing design. Allison is an avid runner and reader. She has also been known to bring in to the gallery the occasional lost cat or two.

Calby Boss

With over 25 years of fine art framing experience, Calby Boss is an invaluable asset to Brown’s Fine Art. Since high school in Roswell, New Mexico, Calby has always had an interest in art. He operated his own frame shop in Roswell, New Mexico for a number of years before moving to Dallas and working at the third largest framing establishment in the country, where he framed everything from collectible sports memorabilia to priceless modern masters.

Elise Smith

Elise joined Brown’s almost 20 years ago after serving 12 years at the Mississippi Museum of Art in a number of positions including Chief Curator. At Brown’s, she has enjoyed meeting and working with clients and striving to find just the right work of art or the perfect framing solution. In addition to art, her other great love is dance – everything from Celtic to modern to ballet. She is a long time member of the Jackson Irish Dancers.

Mike Nunnery

Many throughout the metro Jackson area and across the state know Mike Nunnery for his experienced eye at selecting the perfect frame and mat for their artwork as well as finding just the right painting for their home and office.  Mike joined Brown’s in April of 2013 and has continued doling out expert advice on everything pertaining to Fine Art and picture framing for his clients.  “When it’s done right, it makes me happy,” says Mike.  “We do it right!”

Andie Partridge

Andie is a gallery and sales assistant at Brown's who joined our staff in 2015.  She is a 2013 graduate of Millsaps College with a degree in Art History with a focus on Museum Studies.  Andie is from Mobile, Alabama but fell in love with Jackson and now enjoys helping customers with their art and framing selections.  She has become a real asset to Brown's in assisting with everything from hanging the gallery to outside installations in homes and offices across the metro.

Tony Harris

Tony Harris came to Brown's with years of experience in picture framing.  He works closely with Calby in the workroom to ensure that each piece is put together to perfection.  Brown's is blessed to have Tony taking care that each of your orders is right and up to the standards you have come to expect.
