Jackie Meena is a native Jacksonian. She received her degree in art from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX and has done graduate work in graphics design from Louisiana Tech in Rustin, LA.
Using drawing for the skeletal framework of her paintings, she adds extra touches with metallic and transparent acrylics, rice papers, inks, and watercolors. Brilliant colors in combination with neutral shades result in work that is filled with energy and movement.

The artist keeps up with current trends in mixed media by studying with well known teachers from all over the United States. Recently she has ventured into the teaching field giving workshops on new and innovative methods in mixed media painting. Her work has been shown in Decor magazine and numerous national competitions such as Watercolor USA and the Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana Watercolor shows. She is a featured artist in the 1994 Candlelighters Calendar which benefits children with cancer, and was the honored artist for the 1994 Art for Heart fund raiser. Her studio and paintings were featured in Mississippi Magazine's Artist Tour. Jackie's paintings are part of the collections of Deposit Guaranty Bank, Mt. Vernon National Park Center in Springfield, MO, the Art Center of Appalachia in Arkansas, and numerous Mississippi corporate collections.

The artist is married to Dr. Albert Meena. They have two children, Mrs. Walter Fountain and Lauch. They have three grandchildren, Stephen, Kelly and Kristin Fountain.
