Elizabeth Johnson, a native of Jackson, Mississippi, spent her early childhood in China where her father served as a medical missionary. She is a graduate of Central High School, Jackson, attended Agnes Scott College and graduated from Rhodes College with a BA degree in history. At an early age she studied art with Marie Hull of Jackson and in the Jackson schools. She later studied with Nadine Parker at the Memphis Academy of Arts, with Rebecca Hendrick and others at the Mississippi Museum of Art School and has attended many painting workshops.
She works primarily in acrylic on paper and canvas and in pen and ink. She is very much interested in drawing, design and color and has a particular interest in painting still life as well as architectural motifs and people. Recently she has painted several informal portraits. She has painted a number of large murals.

Elizabeth has entered many juried shows through out the United States and is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Society, the Mississippi Watercolor Society, the Louisiana and Southern Watercolor Societies. Her Paintings were selected for the cover art for the 1995 quarterly editions of "Mississippi Libraries" magazine, published in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Her paintings hang in a number of corporate collections including Lakeland Surgical Clinic, Deposit Guaranty National Bank, Paine Webber and Mississippi Chemical.
